Armi San Marco (ASM) was started by Giuseppe Buffoli. They were an Italian manufacturer in the 1960's through 2003 when they were purchased by American Western Arms Co., now known as AWA USA Inc. Their logo did vary from year to year. The Armi Sam Marco (ASM) logo from the 90's is the letter "A" with the "S" and "M" inside the "A". Armi Sam Marco barrel markings were the company's complete name Armi San Marco, or "SAN MARCO", "S.MARCO,. SM or "ASM".

Early on ASM had a reputation for good quality, but over the years Armi San Marco acquired a nagging reputation for soft mechanical parts and other defects however. When last in business, ASM was a subsidiary of American Western Arms, but insurmountable operational problems put a cease to manufacturing in 2004.
