Coltman

As best we can tell, COLTMAN was a distribution company that distributed most of the marked revolvers to big box store in France and French Canada in the 1970' to 1980's.  All of the revolvers found were all date stamped with "A*" proof date codes.  Many of these revolvers have turned up in the French black powder forums and all are made by Pietts, ergo the FAP mark following the COLTMAN mark.  Some do not have the FAP mark after COLTMAN.  Some have the FAP stamp of Pietta on the butt of the grip frame.  COLTMAN only seems to have existed during the 1970's/80's time period.

In discussing this mark with Pietta, they have no recollection of staming any revolvers for Coltman, so Coltman must have stamped these after receiving them from Pietta before distributing them to retailers.
